Hannah Nicholson [née: Stanforth] (22 June 1880 – 30 July 1989) was a British centenarian who was among the oldest known living people in the United Kingdom at the time of her death. Her age is verified by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Hannah Nicholson was born in Scarborough, Yorkshire North Riding, England, UK on 22 June 1880. Her parents were Anthony and Margaret Stanforth, through which she had at least five siblings. In 1901, the family had moved to Scotland, settling in St Macar, Aberdeenshire.
On 11 July 1914, she married Frank Nicholson and they went on to have three daughters - Margaret, Dorothy and Evelyn. Hannah outlived Margaret and her husband Frank. By 1939, Hannah and Frank were living in Chard, Somerset. Frank was the Divisional Surveyor for Chard.
Hannah Nicholson died in in a nursing home in Exmouth, Devon, England, UK on 30 July 1989 at the age of 109 years, 38 days.
