Hazel Belle Eikermann (née See; 11 December 1907 – 27 August 2019) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography
Hazel Belle See was born in Scott County, Kansas on 11 December 1907 to Irvin and Lottie (Ryan) See. She was one of 11 siblings. Hazel was the first to graduate from Manning High School in 1927. She married Leo Eikermann in Leoti, Kansas on 29 June 1933. They moved to Flagler, Colorado, where Leo had a wheat field. The couple had three children: William, Bonita, and Robert.
Following her husband's death in 1960, Eikermann moved around Colorado to Fort Collins, then to the Denver area, before returning to the Eastern Plains. She was a teacher by profession and was very active in her church and community in Flagler.
Hazel Eikermann moved to a care center in Hugo, Colorado in 2013. In January 2018, at the age of 110, she went on a helicopter ride. She credited her sense of humour, family, and faith for her longevity. She died on 27 August 2019 at the age of 111 years, 259 days.
