Hiro Kimoto [Japanese: 木本ひろ] (5 October 1892 – fl.1 September 2003) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Hiro Kimoto was born in Japan on 5 October 1892. In 1994, her address was 2-chome, Kishi Ward, Kita, Tokyo.
In September 2003, Kimoto was reported by Japan's MHLW as the oldest living person in Tokyo; her predecessor, Utaro Tamura (1892–fl.2002), went to limbo.
Hiro Kimoto was last confirmed alive in Kita, Tokyo, Japan on 1 September 2003, at the age of 110 years, 331 days. At that time, she was the oldest living person in Tokyo. On 1 September 2004, she went to limbo, as she no longer appeared on the list of oldest living people in Japan released by Japan's MHLW (although strangely, there still was a 111-year-old woman living in Tokyo listed in another part of the same report[1]).
Issues regarding date of death[]
According to Japanese statistics, a 113-year-old woman died in Tokyo in October 2005.[2]
But Japanese researchers are not entirely convinced this woman is Hiro Kimoto, because it would mean Kimoto was the oldest living person in Japan from the death of 114-year-old Ura Koyama on 5 April 2005 to October 2005, while it was Yone Minagawa (1893–2007) who was reported as the oldest living person in Japan following Koyama's death[3].
