Hisa Arai (Japanese: 荒井ひさ; 10 September 1904 – 4 May 2018) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is the oldest person ever from Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Biography
Hisa Arai was born in Gero, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, on 10 September 1904. At the age of 100, she lived in Osakacho Oshima in Gero.
Arai was confirmed as Gifu's oldest living resident in September 2014, as the previous titleholder, Teru Kobayashi, went in to limbo. Her age was verified by Japan’s MHLW and Tzen Wei Tseng, and validated by the GRG on 3 December 2015. She lived at the Asagiri Sunny Land Nursing Home (Japanese: あさぎりサニーランド) in Gero.
Arai died of natural causes in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, on 4 May 2018, at the age of 113 years, 236 days.
