Honorine Jeanne Marie Rondello (née Cadoret; 28 July 1903 – 19 October 2017) was a French supercentenarian whose age is validated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Early Life
Honorine Rondello was born in Bretagne, France on 28 July 1903. When her father, a fisherman, died while she was a child, she had to take care of her two younger sisters. In 1919, at the age of 16, she quit school to help support the family and started working as a hotel worker and tailor. She married a cheramist named Etienne François Rondello on 2 October 1929. The couple had a daughter named Yvette.
Around 1941, Rondello moved to a Southeast French town called Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume because of the German and Italian occupation of the country. She also worked as a chef for an upper-middle class family and retired in 1976. Her husband died in 1984.
Later life
In 2010, Rondello had a fall while visiting her daughter, and was subsequently wheelchair-bound and moved to a nursing home in Saint Maximin, France.
On her 110th birthday in 2013, it was reported that Rondello was still an avid reader and kept up with current events and news. She claimed that she didn't have any secrets for her longevity. On her 112th birthday in 2015, it was reported that she had poor hearing, but was still mentally aware.
Rondello died in Saint Maximin, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France on 19 October 2017 at the age of 114 years, 83 days. Following her death, Lucile Randon became the oldest living person in France.
