Ichi Kubota [Japanese: 久保田イチ] (born 30 May 1913) is a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is currently the oldest known living person in Iwate Prefecture.

Biography[]

Ichi Kubota was born in Taro, Miyako, Iwate Prefecture, Japan on 30 May 1913. She is the youngest of five siblings, and she had eight children.

In May 2023, Kubota celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.

Kubota became the oldest known living person in Iwate Prefecture, following the death of 110-year-old Emi Matsuda on 28 August 2023.

On 30 October 2023, the mayor of Miyako, Masatori Yamamoto [Japanese: 山本正徳], and other city officials visited to celebrate Kubota's longevity. Her secret to her energy is that her favorite foods are energy drinks and sashimi such as sea urchin and abalone. She stated that she had wanted to live to the age of 150. Although she was a little hard of hearing, but she loved chatting. The candles on the celebratory cake were blown out with great force, bringing smiles to the faces of those who had gathered to celebrate.

Ichi Kubota currently lives in Taro, Miyako, Iwate Prefecture, Japan at the age of 111 years, 186 days.
