Ida Jane Bowman (née Roesgen; 31 March 1875 – 6 May 1985) was a Canadian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was one of the oldest known people in Canada when she died.
Biography
Ida Bowman was born as Ida Jane Roesgen in Ontario, Canada on 31 March 1875. Her parents were William and Annie (née Hess) Roesgen. She had several siblings.
She married Edwin Bowman in Preston, Ontario, Canada on 26 December 1907. The couple had a daughter, Helen, who married Hilliard Stevens. Edwin died on 28 April 1944, two days before his 62nd birthday.
Bowman died in Cambridge, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada on 6 May 1985 at the age of 110 years, 36 days. She was survived by her daughter Helen, grandson John, and great-grandchildren Todd and Danielle.
