Ida Schlesinger (née Cohen; 7 November 1902 – 3 July 2014) was a validated American supercentenarian.[1] She was born and died in Pennsylvania, USA.[2]
Biography
Ida Schlesinger was born Ida Ruth Cohen on 7 November 1902 in New Castle, Clearfield, Pennsylvania to parents Harry and Bessie (née Zieve) Cohen as one of 8 children. She was a teacher until her first marriage to Marvin Kohen. They moved to Shaker Heights, Ohio. Ida was widowed in 1932.
In 1937, she married W. Louis Schlesinger. The couple moved to Erie, Pennsylvania. They were married for 43 years before W. Louis died in 1980. The couple had one child, a daughter, Harriett Sue (married Friedberg). Ida excelled in cooking, gardening, interior decoration, needlework and entertainment.
Schlesinger died in Erie, Pennsylvania, USA on 3 July 2014 at the age of 111 years, 238 days. At the time of her death she, in addition to her daughter, had three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. [3]
