Irena Smialowska [Polish: Irena Śmiałowska] (27 March 1908 – 30 March 2019) was a validated Polish supercentenarian who was the second-oldest living person in Poland (behind Tekla Juniewicz) at the time of her death.
Biography
Irena Smialowska was born in Masovia, Russian Empire (now Poland) on 27 March 1908. For many years she was the director of the communal library in Sanniki. She was an aunt of a famous Polish actor Daniel Olbrychski.
On 27 March 2018, she turned 110 years old. At the time, she was the fourth-oldest living person in Poland and the oldest resident of Masovia Voivodeship.
After the death of 111-year old Czeslawa Lasiewicz on 29 May 2018, Smialowska became the third-oldest living person in Poland. After the death of 110-year old Maria Roszak on 16 November 2018, she became the second-oldest living person in Poland.
On 27 March 2019, Smialowska celebrated her 111th birthday being the third person in the history of Masovia Voivodeship to have reached this age.
Smialowska died in Legionowo, Masovia Voivodeship, Poland, three days after, on 30 March 2019, at the age of 111 years, 3 days.
