Irene Cinquegrani (4 February 1911 – 16 February 2021) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Irene Mafalda Cinquegrani was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA on 4 February 1911 to Italian immigrants Pasquale and Rosalia "Lena" (Martellaro) Cinquegrani. She had four siblings: Grace Tellie, Josephine Andriole, Vincent and Robert. She grew up on Robinson Street, in the Hyde Park section of Scranton. She first attended St. Francis Cabrini Elementary School, then Scranton High School, and subsequently graduated from Lackawanna Business School. After graduating, she started working at Community Chest. Two years later, she started working as a bookkeeper at Northeastern National Bank. She retired after 38 years of service. She never married nor had children.
At the age of 109, Cinquegrani was vaccinated against COVID-19, making her one of the oldest known people to receive the vaccine. She celebrated her 110th birthday in February 2021.
Irene Cinquegrani died in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA on 16 February 2021, at the age of 110 years, 12 days.
