Irineu Lopes da Silva (7 February 1913? – 6 November 2024) was a Brazilian supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Irineu Lopes da Silva claimed to have been born in the municipality of Jacobina, (present-day municipality of Quixabeira), Bahia, Brazil on 7 February 1913.

In February 2023, he celebrated his claimed 110th birthday.

Irineu Lopes da Silva died in Quixabeira, Bahia, Brazil on 6 November 2024 at the claimed age of 111 years, 273 days. He was the patriarch of a large family, with 10 children, as well as a hundred grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Some interesting facts about him:

  • He climbed a 15-meter-high water tank on his birthdays until he was at the claimed age of 104, stopping climbing at his family's request.
  • Until at least the claimed age of 105, he rode his bicycle throughout the city
