Irlande Richard was a Mauritian supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Mauritius at the time of her death. Her age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG), and LongeviQuest (LQ).

Biography[]

Irlande Richard was born in Stanley, Plaines Wilhelms, Mauritius on 14 June 1914. She was the second daughter of her parents. She was widowed at a very young age, like her son. She worked as a maid.

Richard lived on her own until the age of 100, when she moved to Pieton Pere Laval to live with her grandson. Despite her age she remained lucid. Her diet included eating everything, preferably for fruits and vegetables. When she was still capable of cooking, she would use her cooking abilities to make delicious meals for her family. Richard was a big fan of football, her favourite team being Liverpool FC. She and her granddaughter love watching football together.

On 25 February 2022, following the death of 108-year-old Irene Ramsamy, she became the oldest known living person in Mauritius.

Irlande Richard passed away in Pieton Pere Laval, Port Louis, Mauritius, on 6 August 2024, at the age of 110 years, 53 days. She was surrounded by her loved ones and left one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
