Longevity claimant

Isabel Alves de Carvalho (15 August 1901? – 19 May 2023), known as "Dona Belinha", was a Brazilian longevity claimant to the "world's oldest person" title. Her claim is currently unvalidated by the Guinness World Records (GWR).

Biography[]

Isabel Alves de Carvalho claimed to have been born on 15 August 1901 in Coelho Neto, Maranhao, Brazil.

In 1915, she got married and later became pregnant with a girl, but the newborn died after birth. After this loss, Isabel and her husband went to live in the city of Coroata, where they lived until the end of their relationship, which lasted for more than 30 years.

After the separation and alleged acts of domestic violence, Isabel moved to Bacabal in the 1970s. In the city, she worked in a public market. There, she acquired the nickname of Dona Belinha.

Every year on 15 August, a big party was held to celebrate Isabel reaching a new claimed age. All of her family members, colleagues, and neighbors collaborated by purchasing cakes, snacks, balloons, or creating vakinhas to raise certain amounts for the celebration.

Isabel Alves de Carvalho died in Cururupu, Maranhao, Brazil, around 6:00 a.m. on 19 May 2023, at the claimed age of 121 years, 277 days.
