Isabella Dickinson "Isabel" Brown (née Milne; 29 January 1900 – 24 January 2011) was a British supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the sixth-oldest living person in the United Kingdom, after Margaret Fish, Violet Wood, Catherine Masters, Grace Adelaide Jones, and Ellen Watson.

Early Life and Family[]

Isabella Brown was born as Isabella Milne in Broomhill, Northumberland, England, UK on 29 January 1900. She was the eldest of six children. Her father was a butcher. The family moved to Heaton, a neigbhourhood of Newcastle upon Tyne, when she was a child; In 1914, she left school to help the war effort, and began working as a secretary.

In 1927, she married James Brown, who was a book-keeper. They had two daughters: Sheila Ballantyne (aged 78 in 2009) and Anne Nicholson (aged 74 in 2009). She was widowed in 1962.

Later Life[]

Brown lived in Benwell, an area in Newcastle upon Tyne, for 50 years. In 1987, she moved in Seaton Delaval, Northumberland, to be closer of her family. In 2000, she moved in the Monks Haven Care Home in Cullercoats.

At the age of 108, Brown was still knitting and crocheting. At the age of 109, she was reported to still have a great memory. On her 110th birthday in 2010, she said she never had serious illnesses. Her age was verified by Melissa Page, and validated by the GRG on 8 April 2010.

Isabella Brown died in Cullercoats, North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, England, UK on 24 January 2011, at the age of 110 years, 360 days.
