Isidoro Jose de Almeida (2 June 1901 – 21 July 2011) was a Brazilian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Isidoro Jose de Almeida claimed to have been born in Cuiaba, the capital of Mato Grosso, Brazil on 2 June 1901.

At some point in his life, de Almeida moved to Rondonopolis in the same state, where he worked for one of the founding families of the city. In his 90’s, de Almeida moved to the Home for the Aged in Rondonopolis, where he was affectionaly known as “Pocone”. Before moving in to the nursing home, de Almeida bought a gun, which he used to voluntary protect the area where he lived, which was crime rampant. About a year before his death, he was still active and independent. From that point on, his health slowly declined.

Isidoro Jose de Almeida died in the Home for the Aged in Rondonopolis, Mato Grosso, Brazil on 21 July 2011 at the age of 110 years, 49 days, after having been sent to the nursing home from a hospitalization due to a stroke he suffered about 15 days earlier.
