Ismet Elezi (Born 5 April 1920) is an Albanian centenarian who was a veteran of the Albanian resistance during world war II as well as an Albanian criminalist.

Biography[]

Ismet Elezi was born in the village of Fterrë, Lukovë, Vlorë County, Albania on 5 April 1920 . Growing up, He took his first lessons in his hometown and finished them in Piqeras . He graduated from Tirana High School in 1942 and in 1943 he began his higher studies in Florence, Italy, which he interrupted due to the war.

From July 1943, he actively participated in the anti-fascist youth in Kurvelesh . In the years 1946-1951, he studied law in Leningrad with an excellent degree. There he completed his post-graduate studies (1957-1960) to obtain a scientific degree. Over the years, he has held various positions: Cassation Prosecutor at the Supreme Court, Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Sciences, Scientific Secretary of the University, Chairman of the Legal Bureau in the Council of Ministers (1966-1985).

He headed the criminal department at the Faculty of Law (1957-1990).

He has been working as a teacher for about 50 years. He received his scientific degree in 1961, and the title of "Professor" in 1972. He has extensive scientific creativity with over 8,000 published pages. The scientific work: "The customary criminal law of Albanians" received the award of the Republic. A work of special value is "The Customary Law of Labour". He is the author of several criminal law texts (Special Part) as well as co-author of other texts.

He has participated in national and international scientific conferences. In 1998, the International Center of Biographies in Cambridge (England) declared him "International Man" in science.
