Thomas Jack O'Bryan (23 May 1856? – 30 July 1966) was an Australian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Jack O'Bryan claimed to have been born in Bristol, England, UK on 23 May 1856. His parents were Thomas O'Bryan and Mary Sheehan.
He joined the British Navy in 1870. He married Alice Maria O'Loughlin in 28 December 1886. Alice died in 1915. With nearly 60 years at the outbreak of World War I, he dyed his hair and enlisted. He served in France with the Third Field Company Engineers. He married Florence Jane Barron at age of 76. His second wife, Florence, died in 1956. He retired at age of 94. He had four children.
In May 1964, he celebrated his claimed 108th birthday at St Vincent's Hospital, Brisbane. Many of his 70 descendents joined in the birthday party.
He was a life member of Australian Labor Party (ALP), which he joined in 1892.
Jack O'Bryan died in Mt. Olivet Hospital Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 30 July 1966 at the claimed age of 110 years, 68 days.
