James Reeta “Ma Jones” Green Jones (17 October 1898 – 1 December 2010) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Reeta Jones was born on a farm on 17 October 1898, in what would eventually become Bluegrass Road in West Knoxville, to James and Alice (Dryman) Green.
Reeta Jones married her husband, Oscar Jones, in 1920, with whom she had five sons and a daughter. Oscar Jones died in 1990, at the age of 92.
As she never learned to drive, she used a golf cart to travel until she was 102. She accredited her longevity to the lifestyle desccribed in the bible.
Before her death "She had a mini-stroke a month or two before and got progressively worse," according to her 88-year-old son, Milton Jones. Milton turned 100 on March 20, 2022[1]. She had hospice and stopped eating and drinking a week before her death.
Reeta Jones died in Hickory, North Carolina, USA on 1 December 2010 at the age of 112 years, 45 days. She was survived by three sons.
