Joannes "Jan" Franciscus Alphonsus Aloysius van Ierland (born 5 May 1914) is a Dutch supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). He is currently the oldest known living Dutch-born person, as well as the second oldest known living person in the Netherlands, behind John Huang.
Biography[]
Joannes Franciscus Alphonsus Aloysius van Ierland was born in Tilburg, North Brabant, Netherlands on 5 May 1914.
In 1944, he married and had six children. He studied physics and later pursued psychology out of personal interest. He worked as a graphic designer.
He became the oldest known living Dutch-born man, following the death of 109-year-old Eelke Bakker on 3 May 2020.
Following the death of 111-year-old Marina van der Es-Siewers on 11 March 2024, he became the oldest living Dutch-born person.
On 5 May 2024, he celebrated his 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian, and the second Dutch born man to do so
Jan van Ierland currently lives in Bloemendaal, North Holland, Netherlands at the age of 111 years, 10 days.
