Jane Piercy nee Wintle (2 September 1869 – 3 May 1981) was a validated Australian supercentenarian who, at the time of her death, was the oldest known Australian ever.
Biography[]
Jane Piercy was born as Jane Wintle in Bermagui, New South Wales, Australia on 2 September 1869. Her parents were Robert Walter Wintle and Emily Amelia Mary Gillespie. She married Mark Noble Piercy on 12 September 1895, in Bega, New South Wales, Australia. They had six children. Jane claimed her secret to longevity was "good nourishing food, fresh air and dancing." She won her last dance contest in 1939 at the age of 70.
Jane Piercy died in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 3 May 1981, aged 111 years, 243 days.
