Jean-Clementus Amano (7 October 1908 – 15 June 2019) was a French supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2022.
Biography[]
Amano was born on the French island of Reunion, in the commune of Saint-Joseph. He claimed to have been born in June 1907; however, according to Les Grands Centenaires Francais, his actual date of birth is 7 October 1908. Amano was reported to be the oldest living man in Reunion on 8 December 2014 and later became the oldest known man ever from Reunion, upon surpassing the record of Theophane Rifosta (1889–1999) on 17 July 2018.
Amano died in Saint-Joseph, Reunion, France, on 15 June 2019 at the age of 110 years, 251 days (claimed 111/112 years). At the time of his death, he was the second-oldest known living man in France, behind Roger Auvin.
