Jeanne Deletang (27 October 1909 – 27 November 2021) was a French supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Deletang was born in Angles-sur-l’Anglin, Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France on 27 October 1909. She was the fourth of five children. Her older brother died in 1917 during the First World War. She was nine years old when her parents moved to her maternal grandfather's house in Saint-Pierre-de-Maillé. Around 1925, she went to Paris to join one of her sisters and find work there. When she had just been hired to work, she returned home, where she took care of her parents.
Deletang never married and had no children. She liked knitting, surrounded by many cats that she particularly loved. At the age of 105, she moved in to a retirement home.
In 2014, she said that she no longer hears and sees much. She celebrated her 110th birthday in October 2019.
Deletang died in Saint-Pierre-de-Maille, Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France on 27 November 2021 at the age of 112 years, 31 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Vienne departement and the second-oldest living person in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, behind Juliette Bilde.
