Jelena "Jela" Kranjcic [Croatian: Kranjčić] (15 March 1893 – 9 December 2001) was a Croatian centenarian who was the oldest living person in Croatia at the time of her death.
Biography
Jelena Kranjcic was born in Petrijanec, Varazdin County, Austria-Hungary (present-day Croatia) on 15 March 1893. She spend all of her life in Petrijanec and worked on the fields. She was able to walk at the age of 102 and, according to journalists, she didn't look like a woman who was more than 100 years old. At that time, she had 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. She was also able to read without glasses.
Jelena Kranjcic died at her home in Petrijanec, Varazdin County, Croatia on the evening of 9 December 2001 at the age of 108 years, 269 days. Last 30 years of her life she lived with her daughter-in-law, Josipa.
