Jennie Seelye Gish (22 December 1872 – 31 October 1980) was an American centenarian.

Biography[]

Jennie Gish was born as Jennie Seelye on 22 December 1872 in Marshall County, Illinois, USA to John Mason "Mason" Seelye (1830–1916) and Ellen Seely Seelye (1838–1922) and 5 siblings, one of whom died at the age of 3. At the age of 19 years old Jennie married the love of her life John Abram Gish (1867–1928) on 18 September 1892. According to the 1900 census, in 1900 Jennie and her family (husband and children) lived on 814 Kaney Avenue in Abilene, Dickinson, Kansas. Before 1900, Jennie and John had 3 kids, Albert (1893), John (1896) and Mary Gish, Mary was born in 1898 and died in 1997, she was amazingly 98 years old, but not as old as her mother. After 1900 Jennie and John had 2 more kids, Ruby (1907) whom passed at the old age of 93 in 2000 and Francelle (Born Dorothy) who passed in 1990 at the age of 78.

In 1910 the family still lived at Kaney Avenue. In 1920 the family still lived in Abilene but they now lived on North Buckeye Avenue. In 1930 after the passing of John Gish, Jennie and Francelle Gish lived together still in Abilene but at 1006 North Olive Street. In 1940 Jennie lived by herself in Boise City, Idaho. In 1950 she lived at N 15th St, still in Boise. In her early centenarian years Jennie was visited by president Eisenhower. In the 1960s, Jennie moved to Caldwell, Idaho, USA, which is where she passed away on 31 October 1980 at the age of 107 years, 314 days.
