Jessamine "Jessie" Nicholls (née Thompson; 25 January 1892 – 30 October 2002) was a British supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Jessamine Nicholls was born Jessamine Thompson in Bedford, England on 25 January 1892. She left school aged 14 and later worked for a dressmaker. She later married and had a son, who died aged 82 in 2002. Her claim was verified by the Guinness Book.
Nicholls died in her sleep on 30 October 2002 at the age of 110 years, 278 days. She had lived in Chichester for 96 years and was survived by several great and great-great grandchildren. She was thought to have been the oldest person in the UK, but she was actually the second-oldest behind Chesterfield’s Gladys Hawley, who was not validated at the time.
