Jessie Pearce (née Thom; 11 April 1860 – 18 June 1967) was a British-born Australian centenarian who may have been the oldest living person in Australia at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Jessie Thom was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK on 11 April 1860. Her parents were William and Elizabeth (née Campbell) Thom. She had two siblings. She emigrated to Australia in the early 1920s. She married Alfred Porter Pearce in 1927.
She became the oldest known living person in Australia on 21 May 1965, aged 105, following the death of 107-year-old Helen Dunbar.
Jessie Pearce died in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia on 18 June 1967 at the age of 107 years, 68 days. After her death Clara Byrne became oldest living woman in Australia.
