Jo Makihara (Japanese: 牧原志゛やう (まきはらじょう); 26 January 1908 – 12 February 2020) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Makihara was born on 26 January 1908 in Japan. In September 2018, she was reported as the fourth-oldest person in Aichi Prefecture behind Shimoe Akiyama and two anonymous women. On 29 January 2019, three days after her 111th birthday, she became the oldest person in Aichi Prefecture after Akiyama’s death.
Makihara died in Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture, Japan at the age of 112 years, 17 days. She was posthumously validated by the GRG on 9 April 2020.
