Longevity claimant |
Joana Ribeiro da Silva (25 May 1888? – fl.24 May 2008), also known as Dona Joa(ninh)a, was a Brazilian longevity claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Joana Ribeiro da Silva claimed that she was born in Brazil on 25 May 1888, 12 days after the slavery's abolition in Brazil. Her mother was Maria Andre da Silva [Brazilian: André]. When she was young, she worked in sugar cane plantations in Sitio Ypioca.
At the claimed age of 82, Ribeiro da Silva was seduced by the 1970 Maranguape Carnival, in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza, where people danced in the halls like a love that spoke of saudade. It was the "pain that hurts too much" asking to stop. The White Flag by Laercio Alves and Max Nunes was popular for Ribeiro da Silva, who no longer twirled with the musical chords, but sang the song by heart.
Joana Ribeiro da Silva was last confirmed alive in Maranguape, Ceara, Brazil on 24 May 2008, at the claimed age of 119 years, 365 days.
