Joaquim Pereira da Cunha (8 July 1912 - 26 September 2017) was a portuguese centenarian who is the oldest priest ever from Portugal.
Biography
Joaquim Pereira da Cunha was born in Mesquinhata, Baiao, Porto District, Portugal on 8 July 1912.
He became a priest in 1937. In 2010 after 73 years of parish service, Pereira da Cunha retired to the priestly house in Porto, where he celebrated the eucharist daily until his own death.
In 2017 he was greeted by Pope Francis, who considered Joaquim as the "living memory of the diocese". On 8 August 2017 he celebrated 80 years of priesthood.
On 22 October 2016, he surpassed Serafim Goncalves das Neves as the oldest priest ever from Portugal.
Joaquim Pereira da Cunha died in Porto, Porto District, Portugal, on 26 September 2017 at the age of 105 years, 80 days.
