Joaquim Valente (30 January 1911 – 10 May 2021) was a Portuguese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of his death, he was the second-oldest known living man in Portugal, behind Albano Andrade.
Biography[]
Joaquim Valente was born in Quinta de Goncalo Martins, Marmeleiro, Guarda District, Portugal on 30 January 1911. His father died when Joaquim was very young. He never went to school and started working at an early age as a shepherd.
Later he got married with Maria Augusta Escada and they had 4 daughters. He worked in agriculture and as a seed dealer. He lived in France for 3 years.
At the age of 103, he was still working as shepherd, and at the age of 108 he was still walking around the village.
Joaquim Valente died in Marmeleiro, Guarda District, Portugal on 10 May 2021 at the age of 110 years, 100 days.
