John Junior Allen (9 August 1824? – 3 February 1937) was an American supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). He was a veteran of the American Civil War.

Biography[]

John Allen claimed to have been born in Tennessee (on the border between Tennessee and Mississippi), USA on 9 August 1824, according to the family record. At the age of four, he moved with his parents to Alabama. On the steamship, both his father and mother contracted cholera and died. He was taken in charge by a family in Alabama named Nelson, who adopted and raised him.

At the age of 21, Allen went to Texas. Years later, he became a volunteer Indian scout. During the American Civil War, he served as a member of Young's cavalry, enlisting in Gainesville, Texas (near the border with Oklahoma).

Allen married three times, and had several children. He devoted most of his life to farming. Since 1919, he has lived in and around Davis and Sulphur (in Oklahoma). He has resided in Davis for the last seven years of his life.

John Allen died after a short illness in Davis, Murray County, Oklahoma, USA on 3 February 1937, at the claimed age of 112 years, 178 days. He was survived by four children from his first marriage (Steve Monroe, Lillie Chester, Tom Allen, and Cordelia Logan), two children from his second marriage (Lillie Hudson and T. Allen), and two step-children (Minnie Martin and Tom Hensley).
