John Amoriell (31 December 1911 – 14 July 2021) was an American centenarian who was one of the oldest living men in the USA at the time of his death.he was the oldest living man in New York from the death of Mordie Rochlin on 23 December 2020 until his own death upon which Jack Shulman Became the oldest living man in New York State

Biography[]

John Amoriell was born in Tupper Lake, New York, USA on 31 December 1911 as the son of Samuel and Mary (Maglione) Amoriell, who had emigrated from Italy. He was named after his uncle, who also immigrated to America and who lived for a time in Tupper Lake with his brother after Mary died. John married Mildred Mary Exware at Holy Name Church on September 11, 1937, with the Rev. Raymond Fitzpatrick officiating and they had two children. She predeceased him on August 1, 2010, after seventy-two years of marriage. John was employed in railroad work by New York Central and later Penn Central from 1936 until his retirement in 1968. John was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division.

He died in nursing home Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake, New York, USA on 14 July 2021 at the age of 109 years, 195 days. Longevity runs in his family, as his grandmother lived to 103. John's father was 89 when he died and his mother, 77. Most of his siblings lived into their eighties and nineties. At the time of his death, he reportedly had two children (a son and a daughter), two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
