John Huang (born 1 February 1914) is a Chinese-Dutch supercentenarian who is currently the oldest known living person in the Netherlands. His age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
John Huang was born in South Vietnam, Vietnam on 1 February 1914. At the age of 17, he moved to Suriname where he managed Chinese stores for many years.
In the early 1970s, he moved to Hilversum, North Holland, Netherlands. His wife died in 2021 at the age of 93.
He became the oldest known living man in the Netherlands, following the death of 109-year-old Eelke Bakker on 3 May 2020.
In February 2024, he celebrated his 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. At the age of 110, he could still read newspapers with the help of a magnifying glass and watch TV.
Following the death of 111-year-old Marina van der Es-Siewers on 11 March 2024, he became the oldest known living person in the Netherlands.
John Huang currently lives in Hilversum, North Holland, Netherlands at the age of 110 years, 247 days. He is also the oldest known man ever born in present-day Vietnam.
