John "Giovanni" LaChimia (6 February 1869 – 13 July 1979) was an Italian-American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

John LaChimia was born as Giovanni LaChimia on 6 February 1869 in Nicastro, Calabria, Italy. John was born to Eugenio LaChimia and an unknown mother. John lived in the small town Nicastro in Italy for most of his life until he immigrated to America at the age of 24 on 27 March 1921, his father did not come with him but his name was in the ship crew lists, John along with his friend Luigi Tufano, sailed to America aboard the SS Patria. John arrived in Pennsylvania. Some time between 1921 and 1924, John married the love of his life, Rose Guarino LaChimia (1906–1956), and they had 3 children together, Eugene Gerald "Gene" LaChimia (1926–2013) who was a detective supervisor, and Daniel Casper LaChimia (1931–2015), both of their kids lived long and healthy lives, on 1942, John drafted for World War 2, and came back home safe and sound in 1945 when the war ended, but Rose passed away on 2 March 1956 in Rochester, New York. Of an illness, she was only 49 years old. John and his family moved to Rochester, New York in the 1940s, which is where John died on 13 July 1979 at the age of 110 years, 157 days.
