John Quincy Post (7 June 1884 – 23 May 1995) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2024 and given the retroactive date of 2018.
Biography
John Quincy Post was born on 7 June 1884 in Ovid, New York to parents Horace and Venora Post. He moved to Camden, New Gretna, New Jersey in 1915.
He married Sara Adams in 1917 when he was 35. That same year, their son James Clarence Post was born. In 1923, the couple had a daughter, Naomi (married Maurer). In the 1920s, John owned a grocery store on what is now Rt. 9, just down the road from Chalkley Cramer's Hardware Store. His wife Sara died in 1945 after 28 years of marriage. John then moved to Pleasantville, but moved back to New Gretna to live with his daughter in 1975.
Quincy Post died in New Gretna, New Jersey, USA on 23 May 1995 at the age of 110 years, 350 days.[1] His son, James Clarence Post (1918–2019) lived to be 101.[2]
