Jose Agustin Navarro [Spanish: José Agustín] (28 August 1912 – 11 August 2022) was an Argentine centenarian who was the oldest known living man in Argentina at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Jose Agustin Navarro was born in Tucuman Province, Argentina on 28 August 1912. He worked as a shooting instructor in the Argentine Army, and was a government secretary in the city of Santa Fe.
On 9 June 1956, Navarro participated to a revolt in Santa Fe under the orders of Juan Jose Valle.
On 7 July 2016, aged 103 (almost 104), he participated to the unveiling of a statue commemorating the bicentenary of Argentine Declaration of Independence in San Miguel de Tucuman. On his 108th birthday in 2020, he was visited by the national deputy Beatriz Avila.
He became the oldest known living man in Argentina, following the death of 110-year-old Juan Rodriguez around 3 February 2021.
Jose Agustin Navarro died in Villa Lujan neighbourhood, San Miguel de Tucuman, Tucuman Province, Argentina on 11 August 2022 at the age of 109 years, 348 days.
