Jose Javier Delgado Jaramillo (21 February 1910 – c.11 November 2020) was an Ecuadorian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Delgado claimed to have been born in Vilcabamba (Victoria), Loja Canton, Loja Province, Ecuador, on 21 February 1910. Around 1941, he married Marcolina Maria Mercedes Retete Perez (born 19 June 1925). They met in Loja, although his wife was from Vilcabamba and he was from the San Pedro de la Bendita parish of the Catamayo Canton. They got married Vilcabamba and had 9 children. Six of their children were alive in 2019: Francisco Javier, Sara de Jesus, Zoila Maria, Hestanis Hernando, Luis Alfredo and Carmen Baltazar Delgado Retete.

When they got married, Delgado worked as a laborer while his wife worked in the fields, until his father-in-law gave them the land in Tumianuma where they later built a house.

In 2019, he and his wife lived in a small house that they built with the support of their children. At that time, he had 41 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. His wife was still alive in November 2020, at the age of 95.

Delgado died in the Tumianuma neighborhood of Vilcabamba, Loja, Ecuador, around 11 November 2020, at the claimed age of 110 years, c.264 days.
