Jose Maria Crisostomo Guevara Pizarro [Spanish: José María] (13 September 1909 – 21 October 2017), known as "Chepe", was a Costa Rican centenarian who was the oldest known living man in Costa Rica at time of his death.

Biography[]

Jose Maria Guevara Pizarro was born in Puntarenas, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica on 13 September 1909. His parents were Tranquilino Guevara Cortes and Eudosia Pizarro. He had 14 siblings.

In September 2009, he celebrated his 100th birthday and became a centenarian.

He became the oldest known living man in Costa Rica, following the death of 109-year-old Adilio Carmona Sibay on 26 March 2015.

As of May 2017, he had at least two living daughters Leonor (aged 69) and Susana (aged 72) and many granchildren (including a 58-year-old grandson).

Guevara Pizarro died in Santa Cruz, Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica on 21 October 2017 at the age of 108 years, 38 days.
