Cyrille Jose Gaston Van Zandijcke (also Zandycke; 5 June 1912 – 28 December 2022) was a Belgian-born French supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). He was the oldest known living Belgian-born man at the time of his death.

Biography[]

Van Zandijcke was born in Antwerp, Belgium on 5 June 1912. He, along with his parents, emigrated to France in 1914 and became a French citizen in 1925. In 1938, he married Croatian-born Nieves Negri, who died aged 98 in 2013 after 75 years of marriage. By 1966, Van Zandijcke was living in Marseille working for Intramar, a port-handling company, as the director of operations.

Van Zandijcke became the oldest Belgian-born man following the death of Sylvain Vallee on 25 July 2021. He died in Marseille on 28 December 2022 at the age of 110 years, 206 days; his funeral was held on 5 January 2023. At the time of his death, he was the second-oldest known living man in France, after Georges Thomas.
