Josephine "Jody" Jones (née Wilson; 27 May 1911 – 24 February 2023) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known person living in the U.S. state of Virginia.
Biography[]
Jones was born on 27 May 1911 in Amherst, Virginia, USA to John P. and Mary (née West) Wilson. She had seven sisters and three brothers. She married Willie Cyrus Jones in March 1938, with whom she had two children: Mary J. McCoy and Cyrus W. Jones.
For the last 10 years of her life, Jones lived in a nursing home in Amherst, Virginia. She died on 24 February 2023 at the age of 111 years, 273 days. At the time of her death, she had nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
