Josias de Oliveira (born 21 October 1911?/1917) is a Brazilian supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and Guinness World Records (GWR). He is currently a claimant to the oldest known living man in the world title since the death of 114-year-old Juan Vicente Perez Mora of Venezuela on 2 April 2024.

Biography[]

Josias de Oliveira claims to have been born in Boa Vista do Padre Joao, Goias, Brazil (now Tocantinopolis, Tocantins, Brazil) on 21 October 1911. However, according to early life records, there is a high possibility that he is actually six years younger, and that he was born in 1917, and that he exaggerated his age by six years later in life.

In 1935, he moved to Rio Claro, Goias (now Ipora, Goias). He lived in Boa Vista, Goias (now Ivolandia, Goias) for a while, but later returned to Ipora.

He worked as a prospector and a farmer. He married and had three children: Ideilda, Zizuina, and Geracina.

He remarried Ana de Souza and had five children: Maria, Terezinha, Luiz, Conceicao, and Joao. Ana died around 1994.

In October 2021, he celebrated his claimed 110th birthday. He has many grandchildren (including Adriana Rodrigues), great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Josias de Oliveira currently lives in Ipora, Goias, Brazil at the claimed age of 114 years, 43 days (more likely 108 years, 43 days).
