Jozef Lukovic [Slovak: Jozef Lukovič] (29 November 1913 – 26 January 2018) was a Slovakian centenarian who was the oldest known living man in Slovakia at the time of his death.

Biography[]

Jozef Lukovič was born in Jaslovské Bohunice, Trnava Region, Austria-Hungary (now Slovakia), on 29 November 1913. He studied at the Ján Hollé Gymnasium in Trnava and was already active in athletics, volleyball and football during this period. He founded a sports club in his hometown. He worked at the Faculty of Pedagogy of the Charles University, at the Department of Physical Education and Sports, in the position of assistant professor, but also as a coach of volleyball teams for teenagers and women. During his entire working career, he worked as a teacher at various types of schools, especially dedicated to talented youth in the field of sports. In 2013, he received the Award of the city of Trnava for the development of sports, and the Honorary Citizenship of the Trnava Self-governing Region.

On 6 December 2017, following the death of 105-year-old Rudolf Kósa, he became the oldest known living man in Slovakia.

Jozef Lukovič died in Trnava, Trnava Region, Slovakia, on 26 January 2018, at the age of 104 years, 58 days. Following his death, then 103-year-old Juraj Gabura became the oldest known living man in Slovakia.
