Jozefa Stanislawa Szyda [Polish: Józefa Stanisława Szyda] (11 March 1903 – 1 May 2013) was a Polish supercentenarian and the oldest recognized living person in Poland since the passing of 110-year-old Jozefa Karczewska on 18 January 2013 until her own death.

Biography

Jozefa Stanislawa Szyda was born on 11 March 1903 in Turek, Russian Empire (the town is presently located in Greater Poland Voivodeship). She married, however, the couple never had children. Later, she moved to Lodz where, together with her husband, they run a shop.

Reportedly, Mrs. Szyda was completely independent in daily activities until aged 108. She was cared by her niece. The family used to adress her as "Auntie Stachna". When asked about the secret of her longevity, she replied that the most important thing is to keep regular sleeping hours. On her 108th birthday, she was reported to be the oldest living person in Lodz.

Jozefa Stanislawa Szyda died on 1 May 2013 in Lodz, Lodz Voivodeship, Poland, at the age of 110 years, 51 days. Szyda is the 2nd oldest person ever of Lodz Voivodeship, after Jozefa Karczewska (1902–2013).
