Juana Bautista de la Candelaria Rodriguez [Spanish: Rodríguez] (2 February 1885? or 1915? – 24 December 2012), known as "Candulia", was a Cuban longevity claimant who claimed to be the world's oldest person ever.
Biography[]
Juana Bautista claimed to have been born in Campechuela, Granma Province, Cuba on 2 February 1885, the second of 13 children of Cecilia Rodriguez, who lived to be 100. Her father lived to be 96. However, one of the documents shown that was supposed to show "1885" on it had "1915" on it, then written over with "1885", which leaves doubt as to when the document was written and the actual year of birth.
She married Santo Cabrera and had three children (the youngest son was 83 years at the time of her death), six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She attributed her longevity to the pure air of the countryside, a diet rich in meat, and a "heart that has always been full of love".
Juana Bautista died in Santa Rosa farm, Ceiba Hueca neighborhood, Campechuela, Granma Province, Cuba on 24 December 2012 at the claimed age of 127 years, 326 days.
