Dr. Julio Augusto Varela Lopez [Spanish: López] (4 March 1913 – 25 July 2022) was a Uruguayan gastroenterologist and centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Uruguay at the time of his death. According to the Uruguayan Society of Gastroenterology, he was his country's first gastroenterology specialist, and made significant contributions to his field.

Julio Augusto Varela Lopez was born in Montevideo, Uruguay on 4 March 1913.
He became the oldest known living man in Uruguay, following the death of 110-year-old Valoy Ortiz on 18 March 2022. Two days later on 20 March 2022, he became the oldest known living person in Uruguay, following the death of 111-year-old Blanca Luisa Cuitino Barbier.
Varela Lopez died in Montevideo, Uruguay on 25 July 2022, at the age of 109 years, 143 days. Following his death, then 108-year-old Monica Rodriguez became the oldest known (documented) living person in Uruguay.
