Julio Saldarriaga Hernandez (Spanish: Julio Saldarriaga Hernández; 3 November 1913 – 10 October 2025) was a Colombian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and LongeviQuest (LQ). He was the oldest known living person in Colombia at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Julio Saldarriaga Hernandez was born in El Carmen de Viboral, Antioquia, Colombia, on 3 November 1913, although he claimed to have been born a few months earlier, on 30 July 1913. During his earlier years, he lived in various towns and cities throughout Colombia, finding work chopping wood and making charcoal. When he was 15, he met María Calista García, who would later become his wife. After marrying in 1936, the couple would have 19 children, and remained together for 79 years until Calista's death.
On 3 November 2023, he celebrated his 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
On 29 June 2024, following the death of 111-year-old Alfonso Maria Rojas Perdomo, he became the oldest known living man and person in Colombia.
Julio Saldarriaga Hernandez died in Carmen de Viboral, Antioquia, Colombia, on 10 October 2025, at the age of 111 years, 341 days, just 24 days short of his 112th birthday. At the time of his death, he was the fourth-oldest validated living man in the world, after Joao Marinho Neto, Ilie Ciocan, and Ken Weeks.
