Kame Ganeko [Japanese: 我如古カメ] (10 April 1905 – 18 October 2019) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of death, she was the 5th-oldest living person.

Biography

Kame Ganeko was born in Japan on 10 April 1905. On 10 April 2019, Kame Ganeko celebrated her 114th birthday. Ganeko become the oldest living person in Okinawa Prefecture following the death of Teru Oshiro

Ganeko died in Yomitan, Okinawa, Japan, on 18 October 2019, at the age of 114 years, 191 days. She was the oldest living person in Okinawa Prefecture.

According to the obituary of Kame Ganeko, Kikue Taira is her sisiter.  Kikue Taira was born on 26 April 1910 and lives in Yomitan Village. In September 2019, she was reported as the 10th oldest person in Okinawa. They are the oldest siblings ever with a combined age of over 224 years.
