Kame Uema [Japanese: 上間カメ] (19 June/28 August 1909 - September 2023) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Kame Uema was born in Japan between 19 June and 28 August 1909. In September 2015, she was reported as the third-oldest living person in Nakijin. In June or August 2019, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
In September 2022, Uema was reported to be the third-oldest living person in Okinawa Prefecture (she is listed as "anonymous"), after Matsu Gaja and Ushi Makishi.
In July 2023, Uema was reported as the oldest known living person in Okinawa Prefecture, her predecessor, Ushi Makishi, went to limbo on the World Supercentenarian Rankings List.
Uema likely passed away in late September 2023 at the age of 114 years. Following her death, Kikue Taira became the oldest person in Okinawa.
