Karel Lavacek [Czech: Karel Lavaček] (10 January 1918 – 6 February 2022) was a Czech centenarian who was the oldest known living man in the Czech Republic at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Karel Lavacek was born in Prague, Austria-Hungary (present-day Czech Republic) on 10 January 1918 as the son of a police inspector and the founder of Czech dactyloscopy, Julio Lavacek. He spent part of his life in Italy and Switzerland. He lived in Switzerland from 1968 until 1994, but after the death of his wife, together with his cheese, he returned to Kralupy nad Vltavou where he stayed for the rest of his life.
He became the oldest known living man in the Czech Republic, following the death of 104-year-old Eduard Marek on 22 January 2022.
Karel Lavacek died in Kralupy nad Vltavou, Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic on 6 February 2022 at the age of 104 years, 27 days.
