Kateryna Ivanivna Kozak [Ukrainian: Катерина Іванівна Козак] (14 February 1897? – 13 March 2014) was a Ukrainian longevity claimant to the World's oldest living person title whose age is currently unvalidated by the Guinness World Records (GWR).
Biography[]
Kateryna Kozak claimed to have been born in Khotymyr, Austria-Hungary (now Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine) on 14 February 1897. She never married, but she raised the two children of her older sister, who made hard labour in Germany and died there.
Kozak worked in a kolkhoz in Tlumach Raion (now Ivano-Frankivsk Raion). She lived most of her life in her house in Khotymyr, but during her last years, she spent some periods in her great-nephew's house in Kolomyia, especially during winter.
Following the death of 116-year-old Besse Cooper on 4 December 2012, she became a claimant to be the oldest living person in the world (claiming to be older than Dina Manfredini).
Kateryna Kozak died in Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine at 8:30 p.m. on 13 March 2014, at the claimed age of 117 years, 27 days. Coincidentally, she had the same claimed age as Misao Okawa did at the time of her death on 1 April 2015 (117 years, 27 days), who was the world’s oldest validated living person at the time of Kozak’s death.
